It's Official! (And some other news...)

Well, it’s official!

About a month or so ago, we formally organized Qavah Ministries as a nonprofit organization in the great State of Texas! It just got real!

Our next step is completing our 501(c)(3) application with the IRS. This process often takes months, but the good news is that once complete, the approval will be retroactive back to the date of formation. Therefore, between now and then, any and all donations made to Qavah Ministries should qualify as a charitable donation under the IRS guidelines.

We’d also like to introduce our newly formed Board of Directors! The rules in Texas require three board members, so during these early stages, we decided not to exceed the minimum for now. First up: Michael Craven, the National Director for the Colson Fellows Program, the flagship program for the Colson Center for Christian Worldview. Michael was Pam’s boss at BridgeBuilders for years. He hired me there a couple of years ago. and has been a trusted friend and mentor ever since.

Next is Keith Hileman. Keith is the Senior Pastor at Trinity Fellowship Church in Richardson, Texas. Keith and I formed a fast friendship over the last year or so, and his church is one of our pilot churches as we launch this new ministry.

And finally, I am serving as the third board member. Since God has planted this vision deep within me, we all believe that I should fill this third board seat, at least until or unless we decide that I should be working vocationally in the ministry.

God is already beginning to open doors for us! In addition to our planned launch with Trinity Fellowship this fall, we are in active discussions with three other churches about launching programs with them. We are also discussing potential partnership opportunities with another prison ministry in Dallas that for the last 17 years has focused on re-entry solutions for young offenders. And the director at that ministry introduced me to the Area Director for Prison Fellowship (who is also a local pastor), so we’ve begun exploring ways we can work together.

All that to say, we’ve been busy! We feel a responsibility to do this well, so there is a lot of groundwork to do before we’re ready to start actively ministering to the temporary widows and orphans. We’re actively waiting and preparing for that day, as we believe that day is coming soon. God is up to something huge and we want to be ready!

Thank you for your prayerful support of this ministry. We will try to update you with some regularity as things begin to progress. If you have questions or comments in the meantime, please reach out! We want to hear from you.

Grace and peace,
Delton
